What is Slow Travel

Slow travel is an approach to travel that values connection with local people, cultures, and environments. It promotes responsible environmental practices and prioritizes personal growth and inspiration in the face of urbanization and globalization.

Slow travel has less to do with how far you go and everything to do with how much of the world you see. It’s about spending more time in one place, immersing yourself in the local culture, connecting with the people, and appreciating the details like the curve of a silo or the sound of a rooster crowing at sunrise.

Slow travel is not a trend but a lifestyle that you can practice all over the world. It is an opportunity to connect with local people, culture, food, and nature sustainably. It allows you to understand the world better.

The essence of slow travel is as simple as traveling at a slow pace.

It’s about spending more time in one placeimmersing yourself in the local culture, connecting with the people, and appreciating the details like the curve of a silo or the sound of a rooster crowing at sunrise.

Slow Travel was inspired by the Slow Food Movement, a cultural movement that originated in Italy in the 1980s to defend local traditions, good food, and a slower pace of life.

It was started by Carlo Petrini and a group of activists in the 1980s with the initial aim to defend regional traditions, good food, gastronomic pleasure, and a slow pace of life. In over two decades of history, the movement has evolved to embrace a comprehensive approach to food that recognizes the strong connections between plate, planet, people, politics, technology, and culture.
